At this point in the school year, keeping track of things can become overwhelming. And, it can feel like you’re forgetting to do something or missing out on different commitments. Well, planning the week in advance can help mitigate your stress and get you ready for what lies ahead.
Find a planner
The first step is finding some place to house all of your assignments, to-do’s, and plans. We have a variety of free planners—both spreadsheets and PDFs—for you to try out, so that you can find your perfect fit. Get acquainted with your planner and make sure you’re comfortable with using it. Set up systems to check things off and, most of all, make sure it works for you.
Sunday, fun-day
If you’re prone to getting the ‘Sunday scaries’ the day before school starts, then planning everything out can actually help you significantly. On Sunday, take around 15-30 minutes to get organized for the week. Set up your planner or to-do list, and make sure it includes everything (we’ll show you how in the next section).
Go bit by bit
Don’t just write everything in your planner off the top of your head. Do different sections at a time to make sure everything makes it in. Start out with your assignments, due dates, and deadlines. Then, figure out what clubs, sports, and meetings you have. Finally, add in everything else (random tasks, reminders, etc).
Leave no day untouched
Don’t just stop at listing what assignments or tasks you have! You could go even further and figure out what you’re actually going to do each day of the week. This means planning out what assignments you’re going to get done each night and what tests you’re going to study for. This makes sure that you aren’t leaving too much for any single day and you’re not procrastinating. Conveniently, our planning spreadsheets have all of these sections already built in!
Now, let’s get organized! Take some weight off of your shoulders by getting ready for the week before it starts, and make sure you can take on what’s ahead. And, if you liked this, be sure to check out our other posts below or in the Blog page.
